Life's a Riot is from
Finland. It includes former members of Yuppiecrusher, Pax Americana and
Diaspora. They play on this 7" 6 songs of powerful melodic anarchopunk
with a dual female voice. Unfortunately, the band split up one year ago.
Maximum Rock'n'Roll #220
"Man I'm so fucking stoked on this fervent
yet melodic female vox'd anarcho punk from Finland. Think of Dirt or
maybe something
modern like Burning Kitchen or Lost World. Awe some lyrics and killer
tunes
from these ex-Diaspora, Pax Americana and YuppieCrusher folx. I'm so
fucking
down with this. Man what is with Finland these days ? Manifesto
Jukebox,
Wasted and now these folx ? Totally great stuff !!!"

003 - Urban Blight - 1998 / 2001 - cd - 6 euros
It's a kind of discography
of this anarchopunk band including most of the songs released on tape
between 1998 and 2001. Urban Blight plays a powerful and tense powerful
and tense minimalist crustpunk. I really like the clever texts dealing
with anarchy, wars, governement, poverty, third world.
Profane Existence #45
"If ingenuity counts for anything then Urban Blight is ahead of many.
The band actually consists of only one member, a beat box and a couple
of audio techs. The lack of members (and therefore contrasting
influence) is noticeable in the lack of variation of musical style from
song to song. The beatbox is also pretty tining sounding in some songs
and takes away from the overall impact of each song. At the same time
this also leads to a more synthesided of electronic sound. If you're
looking for something crusty, but with a new twist to it, then Urban
Blight is worth looking it".

MV is a band from
Buenos-Aires. They play fast, raging and political punkhc in a kind of
cross between Dropdead and Los Crudos. The 45-min lp includes the
"hccrust" cd and the split 7" with Cucsifae. All the spanish lyrics are
translated in english. Imagine Los Crudos and Dropdead playing together
on Buenos Aires' barricades (http://www.migraviolenta.8k.com/).
Maximum Rock'n'Roll #239
"Just as the title suggests, Migra Violenta
delivers 21 songs of crusty hardcore on this LP, along with healthy
doses of
youthful energetic hardcore not unlike LIFES HALT and TEAR IT UP. This
has been
out as a CD for a couple of years, and I'm glad it's made it to vinyl -
this
shit is ripping from start to finish. Higher pitched screams instead of
guttural growls mke for better listening (think CRUDOS) and the songs
are
well-written throughout. Hailing from politically tormented Argentina,
the
frustration and anger at the current situation comes through loud and
clear,
and is certainly more relevant than a bunch of kids from SuburbanTown
USA
yelling about how war sucks. An awesome record made by fucking cool
folks from
down south - highly recommended."
>>LNA 005 - Urban Blight -
It's alive - cd-r
Urban Blight is a solo
punk, doing everything : writing lyrics, singing, playing guitar and
programming machines. It sounds like early french punk bands as Metal
Urbain and Berurier Noir with a crusty touch. The lyrics are very angry
and clever. They mainly declain all the injustices against animals,
children, women, third-world country people ... The 13 songs were
recorded live.

All the other songs are totally new. If you liked the "hccrust" lp (see
MRR review below), I guess you will love this record. Songs are still
raging and furious. In my mind, it's even better than the lp.
Indeed, songs are not so linear and are given rythmed by
destructive breaks.

Maximum Rock'n'Roll #243 - Feb.
2004
"Like many Latin American bands, Migra Violenta, from Buenos-Aires,
plays very palpable fury and real shit to say - about poverty, the
borders, and of course, the scene. Their technical, intensely heavy
sound hammers those messages home. With a mile-a-minute, hard-hitting
drummer, they usually do it pretty fast. But I think their more
mid-tempo songs, like "El futuro esta lejos", are superior, and realy
moving. This is a winner."
Profane Existence #44 – Fall-Winter 2003
"Ultra intense punk rock from Argentina that combines has both power
and speed. Sixteen songs, all with lyrics that deal with political
issues and commentary on the HC punk movement, written in Spanish, but
with English translations provided. Quite simply put - this record
rocks!"
>>LNA 007 - Doña Maldad
- Y el Estado hipocrita continua asesinando ... -
12"
An other anarchopunk
assault from Latin America ... these three guys are from Maracaibo
(Venezuela), near one of the biggest oil ressource of the world. They
could wait for oil money to become a bit less poor but they don't mind.
They prefer to scream their anger instead. They prefer to claim
anticapitalism and self-management. And musically speaking ? Dona
Maldad sounds like a kind of mix beween furious south american and
european anarchopunk styles (http://www.donamaldad.cjb.net/).
MRR #253 – June 2004.
"Great
anarcho-punk from Venezuela! Well played mid to quick-tempo
catchy tunes, tons of guitar hooks and angry male vocals - all in
Spanish. This
is going to be a great one for all you anarcho-punks out there. Come
and get
it"
>>LNA 008 - Doña Maldad /
Generacion Perdida - Atentando y propagando en Suramérica -
split 7" - 3.5
euros
Rageous pace, angry vocals
and politics are the main features of this split between two
latin-american bands. Dona Maldad come from Venezuela, hate both
populist Chavez or its opposition and love crustpunk. Generacion
Perdida are against all oppressions, want anticapitalist war and love
anarchopunk.

MRR #253 –
June 2004.
« Dona
Maldad are vicious. For their side of this split, they deliver three
tracks of
raw, yet tuneful hardcore. Their songs just bubble with energy and had
me
vainly attempting to sing-a-long beforeet Psychopathie
Criminalis it was over. Crucial punk from
Venezuela. On the flip we have Generacion
Perdida, playing a similar style to Apatia No ! Mid-paced
catchy
anarcho-punk with ranting vocals attacking the state, communists and
discussing
the merits of sabotage as a means to an end. Good
stuff. »
PE #46 –
Fall Winter 2004
"GP,
from Lima, Peru, crank out 3 cool anarchopunk songs
on this split. They sound similar to Sin Dios at times, a little
slower, maybe
straight forward raw hc punk, although they do tend to lean towards the
catchy
style of early Defiance as well. A very interesting band with a heavy
anarchist slant On the flip is DxM, a DIY anarchopunkband from
Venezuela. DxM play a similar style, maybe a
little more lo-fi and with more trashy parts They do slow things down
on the
last song, which is catchy while still retaining the DIY HC intensity
the band
exudes on the first two songs. This EP is great South American release,
on no
less than 9 different labels from Europe, Central and South America. Up
the DIY anarchopunx"
>>LNA 009 - Altercado – El
ruido y la rabia- 12" - 8 euros
Pressing
: 1000 copies (2004)
Altercado is a chilean
hcpunk band. They play fast and raw southamerican punkHC with a slight
emotive touch. Of course, I could use the everlasting comparison with
Los Crudos. But I prefer to keep the band away from that. Actually,
they're above all a trio of southamerican punks claiming their anger
and hatred of the social oppressions they're under. The sleeve is a
full-color gatefold one.
(reaccion56@latinmail.com)
>>LNA 010 - Segue - 10"

Eight
songs of depressive, desillusionned and chaotic crust. Two songs were

released until now. It crushes me and I love that !
>>LNA 011 - Silence – Mad
Civilisation - 10" – 6 euros
Pressing
: 500 copies (2004)
Their long awaited 10" is
finally out. This is certainly their best release in date. Music still
sounds dark and powerful emocrust. Lyrics are in the same vein, dealing
with suffering, isolation, head against the wall, false promises ..
This is the music for a mad civilization.

PE #50/51 – Winter Spring 2006
"What
we have here is 8 offerings of down tunes, heavy, dark, gloomy HC crust
from Poland put out on French label. Let's hear it for international
HC! Musically there is some powerful mojo going on here with the
occasional piano and violin kicking in for good measure, and the
vocals-they are completely amazing and primal while retaining a bleak
urgency. The songs are all really strong, well though out and well
written bringing to mind bands like Garmonbozia and His hero is gone."
>>LNA 012 - Urban Blight –
Pig
Justice - 7" – 3.5 euros
Urban Blight is a
one-man-anarchopunk-band. On this new 7", it delivers four tracks of
intense political punk. It sounds like a mix between eighties french
punk, old-school industrial music and anarchopunk. It changes from the
usual fashion d-beat crust! As always, lyrics are senseful dealing with
justice, womyn conditions, resurgence of fascism in post-communist
russia, commodity and alienation. Punkrock is more than
cliché!
>>LNA 013 - Silence –
Echoes of Depression - 12" – 8 euros
Polish emotive crustpunk
with hints of metal, in a kind of mix between Antichrist and fashion
crust bands like Tragedy. The perfect soundtrack of a grey and cold
autumn.

Pressing

The 18 songs were recorded
in november 2004. On this CD, Migra Violenta sounds more brutal and
fast than ever. There's even a slight touch of crust on some titles.
The singer's rage reminds me a lot Los Crudos. Migra Violenta hates
capitalism, the mass-murder of the world, and there's no doubt about
that when you hear them.
>>LNA 015 – Terror y
Miseria – Somos lo ke hacemos para kambiar lo ke somos -
cd – 4 euros
Terror y Miseria is an old
@punk band from Buenos-Aires. After the events of december 2001 in
Argentina, they moved to Europe. They are now squatting in Barcelona,
still fighting day after day for a social change. The cd includes 12
new songs and 10 songs which were originally released in 1998 on their
cd "El arte de la revuelta". All sound in the pure South-American
style, angry, dirty and punk. The 7" booklet includes lyrics, columns
about the situation in Argentina and translations in French and
English. Lyrics are explicit ... Terror y Miseria are against
capitalist state, police and education. They want the prisons down and
the punk movement up. It could sound a bit basic but for Terror y
Miseria, anarchopunk resistance means more than words. It means also a
daily fight against private property, against social control, against
borders, against racism and neo-colonialism. It shows me (a
white-middle-class punk) many reasons for keeping my fuckin' fight up !
PE #52/53 – Spring Summer 2007
"This CD is a new offering from Terror y
Miseria and also features their album El Arte de la Resistancia from
1998. Terror y Miseria specialize in very anthemic punk rock with
shouted vocals and super-political lyrics addressing everything from
police brutality to antistate resistance, especially in the songs
Anarkopunk resistance and The Worst Tyran. There are several spoken
pieces and soundbites on this CD, which I think can be a good companion
to the music if used sparingly. At times, the spoken pieces disrupted
the momentum of Terror y Miseria's music. This is a little unfortunate,
as it's obvious that this band is passionate about their music and
beliefs. This notwithstanding, while this CD isn't the newest crust
punk sound to be name-dropped on various punk message boards and the
like, there is a lot of convictin going on here and Terror y Miseria
deliver it well. Bonus points for including the lyrics in Spanish,
French and English."
>>LNA 016
- Apatia No / Protestera – Split – mcd - 3.5 euros
This split is finally out
after a 4 years-delay. The sleeve and the two booklets are those of the
vinyl version which has been released by Skuld and No Seke. Both
booklets give detailed explanations about the songs thema
(revolutionnary propaganda in the punk movement, labour exploitation,
drugs abuse, political intolerance as activism). This CD version is the
result of a self-managed collaboration between several labels. It is
mainly intended for the people who doesn't have a vinyl player at home
(99% of the south-american punks).

Like Los Dolares, Dona Maldad
are from Venezuela, a crazy and chaotic country. Perhaps, this is the
reason why the venezuelan bands sound so angry. Anyway, these new songs
are totally exciting and mix melodic @punk riff with crusty voices. The
sleeve include a long text about the fight against exploitation of
carbon in the western part of Venezuela.
PE #52/53 – Spring Summer 2007
"A
very enjoyable EP from these Venezuelan anarcho-punks. There are
moments on this record where this band reminds me of Los Crudos, but
then they punk it out a bit and lay down some downright catchy riffs.
Plus, they kick out a rocking cover of "New Age" by Blitz. The cover
artwork is very cool as well; very punk and abstract at the same time.
This band definitely goes in a lot of different directions with their
music and message and I am digging it."
>>LNA 018 -
Los Dolares - Las venas abiertas de America Latina
– cd - 5 euros
This fantastic new album is
inspired by the book of Eduardo Galeano. Thoughts about autonomy,
imperialism, oppression in south-American are presented in an
incredible 80 pages-booklet. And what about the music ? It is just
crazy crust in a kind of mix between classical southamerican
anarchopunk and european dark crust.
>>LNA 019 –
Propaganda por el hecho – Salud, punk y anarquia
– cd - 4 euros
This chilean band offer on
their first CD twenty-one anarchist punk attacks. They have only one
intention: to destroy the capitalist, sexist and specist system. And
musically speaking ? It is just pure southamerican anarchopunk, full of
noise, of shouts and and of anger !
>>LNA 020 –

>>LNA 021 –
Altercado – Radio Rebelion –
12” - 8 euros
The chilean trio is back with
a album. Their music is still raw and fast but shows an increasing emo
touch too. I don't talk about the white punk kind of emo, but about a
feeling of urgence, desesperation and angriness, a feeling feeded by
the south american way of life ...
I have a long and complex story with Altercado. That's why I love them.
Because they're just trying living their life, far from punk cliches,
with sincerity even if sometimes in a pure chaotic way.

European
pressing of their fabulous album released by Profane Existence in
2005. Their music is a kind of fast anarchopunk, rageous but melodic,
like Aus Rotten playing emo...
It reminds me a bit the european emocrust scene at the end of the
nineties. The lyrics are about isolation, destruction, fear but also
liberty, autonomy and resistance. A very nice record coming with a big
poster and a recycled-carton sleeve.

Pressing : 2000

This a compilation in benefit for El Libertario,
an anarchist
publication based in Venezuela. For more than 10 years, and more than
50 issues, El Libertario offers a libertarian point of view
on political, social, cultural life in South American. At the
crossroads between
anarchism, autonomy and punk counter-culture, El Libertario claims the
independence of social movements in Venezuela and Latin America, away
from all authority, including from the so-called lefty and
revolutionnary authorities !! Two thousand euros have been given to El
Libertario by the label which have co-produced this release.
The CD includes songs of Doña Maldad, Baut, Autonomia, Misery,
Remains of
the Day, Apatia No, KrapNek, Radio Bikini, Coche Bomba, Pack and many
others for a total of 31 bands! A fantastic project as is the
booklet of 58 pages which introduces all of that ...

A//narcolepsia is
at first a band of friends. And I am very happy
to co-produce the release of their first demo. This band of Caracas
perpetuates the tiny but tenacious tradition of anarcopunk in
Venezuela. Their
fast but intense music, the female main voice, the emotional
side make this band sounding pretty unique. If the southamerican touch
is evident, one may also think about chicano bands
like Reaccion or Condenada, holding the resistance of immigrants
to
the very heart of the Empire!

Coproduction with Perce-Oreille / Maloka / Musicanard
Pressing : 300

Haymarket is a
french melodic HCpunk. But don't think about Fat Wreck shit. I'm
talking about real melodic and nervous punk, a bit a la Government
Issue, Agent 86 or La Fraction ... And with this slight touch of dark rage which
reminds us that crust is passed over by here. Haymarket is a perfect
band to sing along while bathing. Even if the fantastic voice and the
excellent political lyrics do not deserve such a massacre hahhahahah.
Crime is always a pleasure...

Coproduction with Perce-Oreille
Pressing : 500

Marcel Duchamp is
certainly one of the most interesting south-american band. Musically
speaking, they have been able to make an unique sound, fast,
aggressive, orginal. It is a mix between fast hardcore a la Los Crudos
and modern hardcore slightly destructured. Humanly speaking the band is
strongly involved in the chilean collective Masapunk which has been making punk more than music for several years. An essential record to me ...
Comes with a
coloured vinyl.

Siervos
de Nadie is an @punk band from Vigo. A//narcolepsia come from
Caracas. Both show a definite preference for fast punkHC. Siervos de
Nadie calls to mind a hybrid between european crust bands and
latin-american bands such as Apati@ No or Terror y
Miseria. A//narcolesia goes in the opposite direction. From their
sound typically south-american and the dual vocals emerges an emotion
which could have been delivered by Protestera or Operation from
Scandinavia. This split is a bomb... una coche bomba !
Comes with a
